What is an elective ultrasound?
An elective ultrasound is a keepsake ultrasound to allow family and friends to view and bond with their baby before he/she is born.
Does this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctor’s office?
Elective ultrasound does not take the place of the ultrasounds you have at your doctor’s office. The ultrasound performed at your doctor’s office is done to ensure the well being and genetic soundness of your baby and is a very important part of your care during pregnancy. Baby Bump Studio does not provide medical services, we provide an elective ultrasound and an opportunity for you and your family to "meet" and bond with your baby. This should never replace your doctor visits.
What is the difference between 2D Ultrasounds, 3D Ultrasounds, and 4D Ultrasounds?
Despite the difference in their names, 3D and 4D ultrasounds both produce 3D images of your baby. The primary difference between the two techniques is that 3D ultrasounds give you a three dimensional picture of your baby, while 4D ultrasounds offer you the opportunity to view your baby in 3D and in real time. Compared to the traditional ultrasound that we're all familiar with, these new ultrasound methods are not really a new technology, but rather a re-application of the same 2D ultrasounds.
Does my doctor offer 3D/4D Ultrasounds?
Some doctors do have the technology to offer 3D/4D Ultrasounds and a few of them do. Generally doctors allow a limited amount of time for you to enjoy the bonding experience. Many clients we work with have felt rushed due to the nature of the medical profession scheduling appointments every fifteen minutes. To have a memorable experience that family and friends can enjoy, Baby Bump Studio provides the opportunity to bond with your new family member in an atmosphere that is comfortable and relaxed.
What are the advantages to 3D/4D Ultrasounds other than the "wow" factor?
The bonding experience is the advantage of having a 3D/4D ultrasound. Having a 3D/4D ultrasound has been shown to enhance the mother’s ability to bond with her baby. Further, fathers and other family members have been shown to form a greater bond with the baby during pregnancy.
Can the gender of a baby really be determined at 14 weeks?
It most certainly can and with over 99% accuracy! This does not always mean that your little of bundle of joy will be in a position or a mood to guarantee gender determination. If we are unable to determine the baby’s gender due to positioning, we allow you to come back for free!
Is it safe to have an ultrasound done?
When it comes to ultrasounds, the FDA regulates the frequency and intensity of the ultrasound machines to ensure that your baby will not be harmed. Even if a machine went rogue (they don't) and started producing ultrasonic waves that were too intense for your baby, a fail-safe mechanism is included in each ultrasound unit which shuts the machine down or terminates the ultrasonic output in the event that the ultrasonic waves do not meet FDA regulations.

What if I don’t get any good pictures of my baby?
Sometimes babies don’t cooperate with us or the fluid level in your uterus is too low for us to obtain good images. If this is the case we will bring you back for FREE at another time. We make no promises that the images you receive will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our facility, or that we can always meet everyone's expectations. Every baby scans differently depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother's size. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.
